What this cumulative GPA calculator does
A term GPA measures performance for one set of courses. A cumulative GPA combines academic performance across more than one term or study period. Some institutions use the abbreviation CGPA; others simply call the result GPA.
This page provides two calculation methods for University of Calgary:
- Update an existing cumulative GPA: combine your current GPA and completed study weight with individual new course grades.
- Combine term GPAs: calculate one weighted cumulative GPA from several term GPA values and their credit or unit weights.
The highest grade-point value represented in the grading data used by this page is 4 for A+ / A . The calculator does not assume that every course is included in an institution's official GPA; exclusions and special academic rules should be checked against the university's own policy.
Before calculating your cumulative GPA
- Use the same study-weight unit throughout the calculation. If your institution uses credits, use credits for both completed and new study; if it uses units or credit points, use that same unit.
- Only include courses that your institution counts toward GPA. Pass/fail subjects, withdrawals, repeated courses, transfer credit, exclusions, or other special cases may be treated differently.
- Enter your current cumulative GPA on the same grading scale represented below.
- Results are mathematical estimates. Official transcripts may use institution-specific rules or rounding that this general-purpose calculator cannot reproduce.
