What this Auckland University of Technology target GPA calculator does

A normal GPA calculator works forward from grades you have already earned. This target calculator works in the opposite direction: you provide your current cumulative GPA, the study weight already completed, a desired cumulative GPA, and the amount of future study you plan to take. It then solves for the average GPA required over that future study.

Credits, units, and credit points can all be used as the weighting value, provided you use the same unit for completed and planned study. The calculator does not estimate a specific number of letter grades or predict individual course results.

How the target GPA calculation works

Required future GPA = ((Target cumulative GPA × Total credits after planned study) − (Current cumulative GPA × Completed credits)) ÷ Planned credits

This is a weighted-average planning model. Individual institutions may apply rules for repeated courses, excluded courses, transfer credit, pass/fail study, rounding, or program-specific GPA calculations. Use the university's official rules for academic decisions.
